Learn the Art of Writing a Solid Script. Bring your ideas to life.
About the Instructor & Class
My name is Dayle Michelle and I am a writer, an editor, and I have been developing motion picture projects for major studios and independent companies for over forty years. I have mentored dozens of screenwriting workshops. I love writing and I love the movies.
Unlike a novel or short story, a screenplay is blueprint for a movie - a blueprint as essential to understanding story and character as your inspiration and creativity. It is an instruction manual for producers, actors, directors and a host of professional artists. It is simply your vision come to life.
There has never been a better time to write a screenplay. We live in a visual world with images swirling all around us all the time. If you have an idea and it comes to you in pictures, this workshop will give you the tools and a roadmap to get your ideas down on paper.
Writing a screenplay is an amazing journey. I hope you will let me guide you through the process so that you can tell your story in a way that will allow any reader to see it through your eyes.
The syllabus of this workshop will include:
How a screenplay is formatted and why this structure is essential
Defining your idea
Identifying your characters
Understanding the difference between a premise and a log line
Writing a log line, treatment and outline
Why the first ten pages are so important
Writing your first draft
